Cooling Down This Weekend

QUITE EVENING:  Clouds will slowly build during the late evening hours into the overnight.  We may see a few stray pre-dawn showers & storms west of the Illinois River.

TOMORROW:  A cold front will move into the state, sparking showers & storms for much of the day.  A good chance for strong storms could develop in 2 waves.  Once during the mid morning hours, another during the mid to late afternoon.  The Storm Predictions Center has placed the eastern half of central Illinois in a slight risk for severe weather.  Large hail and damaging winds will the primary concern.

TOMORROW NIGHT:  A few lingering showers & storms may hang around for the start of high school football.  Models have most of the rain moving out by the mid to late evening hours, with clouds still hanging around until daybreak Saturday.

COOLER WEEKEND:  In the wake of the cold front pushing through Friday, much cooler air will move into the region for Saturday and Sunday.  Highs in both days will struggle to hit the lower to middle 70's, and overnight lows may dip to 50, and in some outlying areas in the upper 40's.

NEXT WEEK:  Very quiet pattern setting up for the start of the week, with highs stay slightly below average in the upper 70's.  A slow warm up begins by the middle of the week.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL FORECAST:  Illinois State is on the road against Eastern Michigan (12pm CDT).  Clouds will be decreasing with game time temps on the cool side, near 60.  Illinois Wesleyan is at home against Alma College (1pm CDT).  Should see abundant sunshine in Bloomington with game time temps in the upper 60's.  University of Illinois is in Tempe, AZ to face off with Arizona State (9:30pm CDT).  Could see a few scattered showers & storms by the early evening out west, and very hot conditions.  Game time temps will be hanging around the lower 90's.
