Storm Chances Return

After a sunny start to the day, a wave of upper level energy this afternoon will bring cloud cover and storm chances. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will begin around lunchtime, continuing into the early evening. Highs today will only reach the low to mid 80s. Clouds will stick around overnight, but rain will move out. Lows will drop back into the low to mid 60s. Another wave of energy will interact with a trof of low pressure at the surface to bring storm chances on Saturday. Scattered showers will limit highs in the mid 70s. A few sprinkles may stick around on Sunday, but most of us will be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s. Monday and Tuesday are looking dry as highs warm towards 80 degrees. An upper level low will bring scattered storm chances just in time for the holiday. We could see a few thunderstorms for the 3rd and 4th of July. Temperatures will warm into the mid 80s by the end of next week.

Cool Down on the Way

It promises to be another hot and humid day in central Illinois. Highs will reach the upper 80s and low 90s again this afternoon. A quick wave of upper level energy could pop up a few strong to severe isolated storms in the northeast. Most of us will stay dry and clear out overnight. Lows will drop back into the mid to upper 60s. On or two more pop up storms will be possible Friday afternoon, but most of us should stay partly cloudy. Temperatures will cool into the weekend. Highs will reach the mid 80s tomorrow and the upper 70s Saturday and Sunday. Our next real chance at rain comes with an upper level wave on Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will clear out during the evening and overnight. Next week will start off sunny and comfortable with highs near 80 degrees. An upper level area of low pressure will slide back in from the east into the middle of next week. That will keep storm chances around Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will remain comfortable in the low to mid 80s through Friday.

Storm Chances Continue

Even though it's a quiet start to the morning, storm chances will return for the next few afternoon. A wave of upper level energy will interact with the outflow boundaries of the storms to our north. This will provide the lift needed for thunderstorms this afternoon. Add in highs near 90, humidity and instability, and a few of them could be strong to severe. Damaging winds will be the primary threat, but we could also see heavy downpours, dangerous lightning, and hail. Storms continue overnight with lows only dropping into the low 70s. We'll see a break in the action on Wednesday morning, but then a cold front charging through Wednesday afternoon will bring severe storm chances. Those should move out Wednesday night, but temperatures remain warm in the mid to upper 80s for the rest of the week. Sunshine will move in for Thursday, but cloud cover will increase into the weekend. An upper level wave Friday into Saturday will bring storm chances back to the area. They will be centered around Saturday, but we could see a few Friday and Sunday as well. A push of cooler air will keep highs in the upper 70s and low 80s this weekend. Early next week will be sunny with highs near 80 degrees.

Strong Storms

A line of storms moving through this morning is bringing a flash flooding threat through noon today. Remember, never drive through a flooded roadway. Always find another way around. A wave of upper level energy will pop up more storms this afternoon. A few could be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds. Highs today will be hot and humid in the upper 80s and low 90s. Rain moves east overnight with lows only dropping back into the low 70s. One or two isolated storms are possible Tuesday afternoon, but otherwise we're looking partly cloudy with highs in the low 90s. More storms are possible with an upper level wave and cold front on Wednesday. Strong to severe storms will move in for the afternoon and evening with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. The end of the workweek is looking clear and cooler. Highs on Thursday and Friday will reach the mid to upper 80s. Saturday will only see highs near 80 with a chance of storms moving in. Sunshine will be back Sunday and Monday, warming highs into the mid 80s for the beginning of next week.

Rinse, Slather & Repeat Kind Of Forecast

Rinse, Slather & Repeat Kind Of Forecast

Another day in upper 80's and low 90's for CI.

85° for the Saturday high, so not as hot as it got on Thursday/Friday but the heat hangs tough as we head into our Sunday.

There is a small chance for an overnight shower or two, as well as into Sunday - chances are only around 10-20% though.

Dew points remain in the low 70's tonight/tomorrow, so the stickiness feeling will hang around.

Better rain chances on Monday, around 40%, with a couple rumbles of thunder.

Muggy Conditions Today

Muggy Conditions Today

Summer officially started at 12:04 early Friday morning and it sure will feel like it today.

Area wide, most should flirt with 90° temperatures today with some surpassing the mark.

A light southerly breeze teamed up with dew points in the 70's will be sure to make things feel toasty today.

Feel like temperatures today are well into the mid 90's.

We remain relatively quiet through the weekend. Small chances for pop-up showers today, only around 10% chance.

Highs will hit the upper 80s and low 90s by Friday, staying that way through the weekend and into next week. Be prepared for humidity and heat index values to reach the triple digits. Our next chance at rain looks to build in Monday afternoon.

More Comfortable Through Midweek

A cold front draped across the area today will bring partly cloudy skies and a chance at scattered storms. Otherwise, we'll be comfortable with highs near 80 degrees. Clearing skies overnight will drop lows into the mid to upper 50s. High pressure on Wednesday will keep us sunny. Highs will once again reach the upper 70s and low 80s. More cloud cover returns on Thursday as a wave of upper level energy brings a slight chance of afternoon storms. Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s and low 90s by the end of the work week. An unsettled upper level weather pattern will keep a few clouds around into the weekend. A few storms are possible on Saturday afternoon, but otherwise we're looking dry. Highs remain steamy with a large, hot air mass settling in. We're expecting upper 80s and low 90s into much of next week. The unsettled upper level pattern will stick around, bringing storm chances back early next week.

A few clouds stick around overnight keeping lows in the low to mid 60s. Tuesday will be similar to today, but slightly cooler with northerly winds limiting highs to the upper 70s and low 80s. Wednesday is looking sunny an nice with highs near 80 degrees. Cloud cover returns on Thursday with southerly winds warming highs into the low to mid 80s. Quick waves of upper level energy will keep us partly cloudy into Friday. Temperatures are expected to warm into the weekend. Highs will be near 90 through Sunday. The same unsettled pattern will keep clouds around into Saturday and bring a chance of storms on Sunday.

QUIET WEEK AHEAD

Sunny, but cooler

A high pressure system will bring in northerly winds to cool and dry our forecast. After a cloudy morning, skies will clear this afternoon, but highs will only reach the upper 70s and low 80s. Friday's forecast will look similar, starting with lows in the mid to upper 50s and highs near 80. A stormy pattern will build back in Friday night. Scattered upper level waves will begin moving through into Saturday. We'll see strong storms possible Saturday afternoon with highs warming back into the mid 80s. Father's day is also looking soggy. In fact, storm chances will last us into Monday. Temperatures remain mild, in the low to mid 80s into early next week. Sunshine will build back in through the middle of the week, but we're tracking another system around next Thursday and Friday that could bring rain chances back to the area.

Heating Things Up

A warm front moving in this afternoon will increase cloud cover today, but that won't stop highs from warming into the upper 80s! Add in humidity and it will feel more like the low to mid 90s. A quick wave of upper level energy could spark up a few thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. We're likely to be dry overnight with lows near 70. Wednesday will be another hot one. Highs will be around 90 degrees. Cloud cover will once again increase as a low pressure system moves through. This will bring a better chance at strong to possibly severe storms during the afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threat. The end of the week is looking dry and cooler with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Storm chances return on Saturday, really kicking in on Sunday. Highs will warm into the low to mid 80s. We could see rain continue into Monday, before we dry out into the middle of next week.

Sunny and Warming

After some cloud cover moves through early today, skies will clear this afternoon. Highs today will warm into the upper 70s. More clearing is likely overnight, with lows in the low 60s. Cloud cover builds back in on Tuesday, but southerly winds will warm us up in a big way. Highs tomorrow and Wednesday will reach the mid to upper 80s. A low pressure system could bring us a chance of storms as early as Tuesday night, but more likely with a cold front on Wednesday. Strong to severe storms are a possibility Wednesday afternoon. Skies will clear into the end of the work week and highs will cool slightly in the low 80s through Friday. Next weekend will warm back into the mid 80s, but rain chances will be back as early as Saturday night. Rain is possible for much of the day on Sunday, before we dry out early next week.

Scattered Showers For Sunday

Scattered Showers For Sunday

Approaching front boundary from the west will ramp up chances for scattered showers/storms on Sunday.

Not anticipating anything severe from these storms but an isolated T-storms isn't out of the question.
Some light to moderate rainfall at times will occur.

As for Saturday night -
Temperatures in the low 60's area wide, so pretty comfortable tonight despite a little big of mugginess.

Sunday -
Temperatures still below average, in the mid 70's.

Monday -
Low pressure system slowing dragging across the state will try and squeeze a few more showers out on the backside of the Low, so scattered light showers again, not a wash out by any means.

Eventually temperatures will work their way into the upper 70's and 80's by the middle of the week!

Sunny into Saturday

High pressure gradually sliding in today and tomorrow will bring sunshine into the weekend. Where clouds do still hang around, we could see a few sprinkles. Otherwise, Friday will be dry with highs in the low 70s. Sunny skies will warm highs into the mid 70s tomorrow. By Saturday night, a low pressure system will move into Central Illinois. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible through Sunday night. The beginning of next week is looking dry, though, with highs warming into the low 80s by Tuesday. Another wave of upper level energy will bring a chance of storms next Wednesday, but highs will still warm into the mid 80s by the end of next week.

Scattered Thursday Showers

Upper level energy will keep scattered shower chances with us through our Thursday. Despite cloud cover and rain, highs today will still reach the mid 70s.

Showers will move out overnight as lows drop back into the mid 50s. One or two sprinkles may linger into Friday, but conditions will likely dry as we head toward the weekend. Tomorrow's highs will be slightly cooler in the low 70s. Saturday's sunshine will help warm us into the mid to upper 70s. Storm chances return on Sunday. A more organized, energetic low pressure system will bring thunderstorms as early as Saturday night, lasting into early Monday morning. The beginning of next week is looking mostly dry with highs in the low 80s by Tuesday. Mid 80s are possible Wednesday and Thursday, but an unsettled upper level pattern will bring storm chances back.

Midweek Rain Chances

Cloud cover will gradually increase during the day today, but highs will still reach the mid 70s. A quick burst of upper level energy could bring a few scattered showers this evening, but most of us will stay dry into Wednesday. Lows will drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s. A better chance of rain will move in with a low pressure system tomorrow afternoon. A line of storms will develop and move east into Thursday. Thankfully, we're not expecting any severe weather or heavy rainfall. We'll dry out into Friday and Saturday, with temperatures warming into the weekend. Another low pressure system will bring storm chances back to the forecast on Sunday. Rain will likely last into Monday of next week. Southerly winds will keep the warming trend going, though, into the low 80s by the middle of next week.

Sunshine In Forecast

Sunshine In Forecast

Cold front passage tonight will certainly quiet things down for the next few days.

As far as the Spring season goes (March 1-May 31) it's been a record setting one.
We've moved right past the old record by over an inch at 19.91" (2009).

Good news is a cold front will bring the rain to a screeching halt tonight.

Sunday through Tuesday looks to be pretty dry with temps in the upper 60's/ low 70's
and overnight lows near average in the mid 50's.
