Periodic Storms to End the Week

For the first time in almost a month, the Illinois River in Peoria has dropped below flood stage of 18.0'.

A stalled out front over the area for the next few days will keep mild temperatures and rain chances in the forecast. We should see some sunshine today, but developing storms are possible this afternoon and tonight.

After a dry period Friday morning, more widespread thunderstorms are possible tomorrow afternoon.

Highs through the end of the week will still reach the upper 70s and low 80s. The weekend will be dryer and warmer as the front migrates north. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s by Sunday. A more organized storm system will start moving in at the beginning of next week. We'll see stronger thunderstorms on Monday, with showers lasting into Tuesday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, in the mid 70s through the middle of next week.
