High pressure moving through today will bring sunshine back to central Illinois. Building southerly winds will bump highs into the low to mid 50s. Expect a few clouds and lows in the upper 30s overnight.
Friday will be even warmer with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. A warm front overnight Friday into Saturday could bring a slight chance of storms to the area. Most of us will be dry and warm for the start of our weekend. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s on Saturday.
As a low pressure system and cold front move in overnight Saturday into Sunday, showers and thunderstorms will redevelop and pull through. We could see some hefty rain totals as showers are likely to last into early Monday. With a strong push of cold air behind the front, temperatures will drop during the day on Monday. If we hit the freezing mark before the system moves out, we could see our first few flurries of the season. The system will move out on Tuesday but cool temperatures will keep us in the low to mid 40s through the middle of the week. We're looking at a slight warm up by the end of next week, but a storm system will bring another chance of rain on Friday.
