After a few morning clouds, sun will build in for this afternoon. Add in southerly winds, and today's highs will reach the low 80s.
We'll warm up even more on Thursday as winds gust up to 40 mph out of the south. Sunshine will help boost temperatures into the upper 80s and low 90s. After a dry daytime, a cold front Thursday night into Friday could bring a few isolated storms to the area. We've been pretty dry as of late, so most of this activity will not make it to the surface. In fact, most of us have a chance at staying dry through the weekend.
As Thursday night's cold front stalls out over the area on Friday, cloud cover will build during the day on Friday. We should still be in the warm sector though, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The front will slide north as a warm front over the weekend. A building ridge of upper level high pressure will also build north Saturday and Sunday, really pumping in the warm air. Look for highs to reach the low 90s, feeling even warmer because of increased humidity.
The best chance at rain over the next 8 days will come Monday and Tuesday of next week. A cold front will slowly edge into Central Illinois on Memorial Day sparking up showers and thunderstorms as early as the afternoon. The best chance of rain will be overnight and into Tuesday morning. Temperatures will cool into the 70s for much of next week.
