Rain the Past Few Weeks

Over the past two weeks, Central Illinois has seen several storm systems move through, bringing heavy rain to the area. But have we been able to overcome the deficit of precipitation from the beginning of the year? Here is a map of the rain recorded in the past 14 days:

Peoria saw over two inches of rain fall at the airport in the past two weeks. Since January 1st, we've seen 8.44" of precipitation. That is still 2.52" below normal. Parts of Marshall county saw over 10 inches in the same time frame, pushing most locations above average.

At the time, strong storms created a Flash Flooding danger for counties in the northern half of our viewing area. Although that threat has died down, we still have some river flooding in the area. Flood Warnings are in effect along the Illinois River in Bureau and La Salle Counties.

Current River Stages
Near La Salle- 21.63' (Minor Flooding)
At Ottawa- 463.19' (Minor Flooding)

The next 8 days are looking mostly dry. We could see a few sprinkles in the north this afternoon and tomorrow, but most of us will stay sunny and dry for the rest of the work week. A better chance at showers and thunderstorms will move in this weekend. A cold front will team up with an upper level wave to pop up a few storms Saturday night into Sunday.
