Always Welcomed Rain Pushes Through To The Northwest
As a cold front approaches the region, storm chances will increase throughout the evening. A shortwave trough to the west will bring chances for overnight showers into Monday morning but will be few and far between. Some areas could pick up some impressive rainfall totals. Where imbedded thunderstorms are, is where the heavier rainfall will fall. QPF models are suggestion most areas will pick up on some rain but east of I55 could see between half an inch to an inch or more of rainfall.
As the trough progressive North and East out of the area clouds will decrease heading into Monday morning setting us up for a mostly cleat afternoon on Monday. As for the rest of the week it looks to remain very dry and full of sunshine. Temperatures are expected to be mostly in the upper 80s due to a large ridge of high pressure building into central US.
Update for TS Isaac:
As of now it is still a tropical storm but models for the past 24 hours have it turning to a Cat 1 hurricane and more are now agreeing a Cat 2 before landfall. There are hurricane watches/warning all along the coast and also tornado watches/warning for the southern parts of FL Panhandle as Isaac's rain bands are progressing over the region.
Models are having a hard time agreeing on a direct spot of impact for landfall. Timing isn't as much of an issue. Landfall looks to be sometime around early Wednesday morning or during the afternoon. The question of where Isaac will hit is the most difficult as a lot can change by Wednesday.
