A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect for most of central Illinois until 7 PM on Wednesday. Temperatures will hit the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat indices as high as 105°-110°. Stay cool and hydrated these next few days.
A front moving through the area will bring us rain chances through midweek. Today, it will move through as a cold front, popping up scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of these storms could be strong to severe. All of central Illinois is under a slight risk of severe weather, with large hail and damaging winds as the primary threat.
Tomorrow, as it slides east as a warm front, we’ll warm things up into the triple digits and see some clearing in our skies. A second cold front on Thursday will bring our best chance at rain. A round of showers and thunderstorms will pull through during the day, moving southeast by Friday. We’ll finally cool our temperatures back into the upper 80s this weekend. After a dry weekend, storm chances move back in with a wave of upper level energy by Monday.
