Hot 4th of July Holiday

An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING continues through 7 PM Saturday for most of Central Illinois. Temperatures will hit the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat indices as high as 110.

Happy 4th of July! It's going to be a hot holiday with highs near 100. Sunshine and humidity will make it feel even warmer. Stay safe and cool this Independence Day. As the fireworks begin to fly tonight, expect calm winds and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s around dusk. Overnight lows will drop back into the mid 70s.

The opressive heat, humidity, and sunshine will continue through Saturday, before a few clouds start filtering back in. The upper level ridge that has kept us sunny will slowly move back to the west, allowing more cloud cover and a chance of storms Sunday into Monday. This will help us cool back into the mid to upper 80s for much of next week.
