Oppressively hot and humid conditions continue today and tomorrow, with sunshine and highs in the triple digits. Heat index values could be as warm as 110°. That’s why the EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING for central Illinois continues until 7 PM on Saturday.
A few clouds will roll in on Saturday as the ridge that has kept us sunny begins to flatten. Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Sunday as the ridge slowly moves west and a cold front stalls over the area. Behind the front, temperatures will finally level off into the mid to upper 80s for next week.
