Even Warmer Tuesday

After some morning cloud cover, breezy winds and sunshine will warm us into the low 80s this afternoon.

Expect just a few clouds overnight with lows around 60 degrees. Wednesday will see highs near 80 once again, but cloud cover will roll in from the west. By Wednesday night, an approaching cold front will start popping up scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Rain chances continue through the end of the work week and into the weekend. Computer models are having a hard time pinning down the track of a slow moving low pressure system. Most still keep showers into early next week. Temperatures will be cool as this pattern moves through, only reach the low to mid 60s through Sunday. Next Monday and Tuesday are looking a little warmer, with highs in the upper 60s.

Warm Through Midweek

Breezy southerly winds will bring in a warm up early this week. Despite partly cloudy skies, highs this afternoon will reach the mid 70s.

A quick wave of energy overnight could pop up a few showers and thunderstorms. Lows will only drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s. We'll dry out on Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and even warmer temperatures. Highs will reach the upper 70s and low 80s tomorrow and Wednesday. Starting Wednesday night, a cold front moving in will bring a chance at showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, rainy conditions will stick around through the end of the week as an upper level low pressure churns over the central US and slowly moves east. Shower chances will continue on and off into early next week. Temperatures will suffer, only hitting the upper 50s and low 60s through Monday.

Clouds Roll In

A low pressure system to our southwest will increase cloud cover for our Friday. We may see one or two sprinkles, but most of us are likely to stay dry. Southerly winds will bump highs into the low to mid 60s. Saturday will bring a better chance at light showers and thunderstorms, especially in the south. Temperatures will once again reach the low to mid 60s. Skies will clear into the end of the weekend, with even warmer highs near 70 on Sunday. Early next week, we'll warm into the mid to upper 70s! Cloud cover will increase on Tuesday though, leading to a chance of showers and thunderstorms into the middle of the week. A low pressure system next Wednesday and Thursday will slowly move east. Behind that, we're looking at temperatures only reaching the mid to upper 50s by the end of next week.

Warming Trend Begins

High pressure moving in today will bring in sunshine, but keep us cool in the mid 50s.

Clouds will slowly move in overnight with lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. Friday is looking partly cloudy, but building southerly winds will warm highs into the low to mid 60s. A weak system to our south could bring a few sprinkles Friday and Saturday. Most of us will stay dry though, with highs warming into the low 70s by Sunday. Early next week, highs will reach the mid 70s! We begin tracking a low pressure system during the middle of next week. That will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will drop into the mid 60s behind that system for the end of next week.

Rainy Tuesday

The Illinois River in Peoria is expected to crest around 29.4' this morning. That level will stay steady for much of the day as we add on a chance of showers and thunderstorms. We're starting off cloudy, but as a cold front moves in from the west, we're looking at widespread showers by late morning. Thunderstorms building in early this afternoon will bring 0.5" to an inch of new rain.

Behind the front, temperatures will drop from the low 50s this morning into the mid 40s this afternoon and the mid 30s overnight.

Lingering showers could turn into a few flurries early Wednesday. By Wednesday morning we'll be dry and sunny by tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures remain cool in the low 50s. A quick cold front could bring a few sprinkles overnight Wednesday into early Thursday, but most of us will stay dry. Sunshine and building southerly winds will warm us into the low 60s by the end of the work week. A quick low pressure system Friday night will bring rain back to the forecast. We'll be partly cloudy for most of the weekend with temperatures hitting 70 by Sunday. Next week will start off warm before a cold front brings a chance of rain late Monday into Tuesday. That will drop highs into the mid to upper 60s through the middle of the week.

Strong Storms Move In Tonight

A warm front pulling north today will keep a chance of scattered showers possible into the afternoon. Temperatures will warm into the low 60s this afternoon and into the mid to upper 60s by tonight. A few of the storms developing this afternoon and evening, but the best chance at severe weather comes overnight. A slow moving cold front begins to slide east into early Thursday. A line of storms will develop along the front and push through central Illinois very slowly tomorrow. Embedded storms within the main line could include damaging winds. Large hail and isolated tornadoes are not out of the question. The Storm Prediction Center has all of Illinois under a slight risk for tonight and tomorrow. Heavy rainfall is also a distinct possibility with these storms. 3-4" are possible in the northwest and 2-3" are possible in the southeast. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for much of the area until early Friday morning. Scattered showers will linger behind the front on Friday morning, with some wintry mix sneaking in. Much cooler mid to upper 40s will round out the work week. The weekend is looking dryer, with highs warming into the low 60s by Sunday. A low pressure system moving in early next week will bring the chance for rain back next Monday and Tuesday. We'll stay cloudy and cooler behind that system through the middle of next week.

More Rain on the Way

After a line of storms last night, we're looking at some clearing in the north this morning. However, more cloud cover and scattered showers will return into the afternoon and evening. Highs today will be cooler in the mid 50s.

More storms are possible overnight with lows in the mid 40s. A very large low pressure system will move in slowly for Wednesday and Thursday. A warm front will boost instability and highs into the mid to upper 60s. The unstable air will interact with a cold front sliding east to bring a line of strong to severe storms. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats. Very heavy rainfall will also be possible with this system. Widespread totals between 2-3" will be possible into Thursday.

Behind the cold front, showers will taper off on Friday. Highs will only reach the mid to upper 40s for the end of the week. The weekend will bring sunshine and temperatures warming into the 50s. An upper level wave of energy will bring shower back for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Highs will reach the low 60s.

Soggy Work Week

A very rainy weather pattern is moving in, starting today. A few leftover showers are possible this morning, before more widespread storms build in this afternoon. Highs will only reach the low 60s.

Rain chances continue into the evening and overnight, with lows in the mid 40s. Some clearing is possible on Tuesday but highs will only hit the mid 50s. More showers and thunderstorms begin late Tuesday night, lasting into Wednesday and Thursday. A large low pressure system will slowly move east through the middle of the week. Strong to severe storms and heavy rainfall are possible. A cold front will move through early Friday, bringing cooler weather and a chance at rain/snow mix. Highs will only reach the upper 40s and low 50s for the end of the week. We'll dry out a bit this weekend and warm things back into the low 60s by Sunday. After a dry and mild Monday, more storms will build in by late Tuesday night.

Soggy & Cool

Scattered light showers continue to move through this morning. Temperatures are starting off in the mid 40s, only expected to warm into the upper 40s and low 50s. Some sunshine could sneak in early this afternoon, but skies will otherwise stay mostly cloudy.

Look for partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight with chilly lows in the mid 30s. Friday won't be much different. Cloudy skies and one or two scattered showers will stick around, with cool highs in the mid 40s. Sunshine will help us warm back into the 60s by Sunday, before an unsettled upper level weather pattern moves in next week. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along a stalled out front as early as Sunday night, lasting possibly into next Thursday. Temperatures will stay cool, in the upper 50s and low 60s at best.

Strong to Severe Storms

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible today with a slow moving low pressure system. Highs will reach the low to mid 60s. A powerful cold front will spark up a line of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A slight risk of severe weather is expected for most of central Illinois. Damaging winds are the primary threat as the line moves through, but a few of the discrete cells ahead of the line could also include large hail.

Heavy rainfall is expected to accompany these storms into Thursday. Totals should be around 1-2" widespread. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect in the northwest until Thursday morning. Remember, turn around, don't drown. Never drive through a flooded roadway.

Much cooler air will filter in on Thursday. Highs will only reach the low 50s tomorrow. Friday will bring back some sun, but is looking even cooler. The end of the work week will only see highs in the mid to upper 40s. We'll warm back to 60 degrees by Sunday, but an unsettled upper level pattern will bring rain chances back to the area. Showers and thunderstorms are possible through Tuesday of next week.

Strong Storms Tomorrow

Cloud cover and a few scattered showers are sticking around this morning. We'll see partly cloudy skies this afternoon with muggy highs in the low 70s. A low pressure system will slowly move east overnight, working in a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows will only drop back into the mid to upper 50s. Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread on Wednesday, with a cold front bringing in a strong line in the afternoon and night.

Heavy rainfall, large hail, and damaging winds are all possible with this system. Most of central Illinois is under a slight risk of severe weather until late Wednesday night.

A few showers will last us into Thursday, with temperatures dropping behind the front. Highs will only reach the upper 40s and low 50s at the end of the week. Partly to mostly cloudy skies build in this weekend, with a chance of rain Sunday into the middle of next week. Temperatures will flip flop between the 50s and 60s through next Wednesday.

Mild, but Scattered Rain Tonight

Temperatures are again running well above average for the time of year to open up the week, with many locations topping out in the lower 70's.

Winds out of the southwest are supplying the mild temperatures, as well as some moisture that will help supply showers & storms that will roll into the area over the next few days.

Overnight lows will be very mild for this time of year, bottoming out in the mid to upper 50's

Rain looks to slide into the area late tonight.  Showers, with few thunderstorms will be very scattered.  Rain chances look to move north of the area just after the morning drive Tuesday, making for a dry, and again very warm Tuesday.  Strong storms could roll in on Wednesday.
