Peoria Chiefs Forecast

Nice night for baseball.  The Peoria Chiefs take on the Beloit Snappers at 6:30.  Clouds will slowly increase through the evening, but rain should hold off until later tonight.

Soggy Work Week

A quick low pressure system is moving through the area this morning. Though the main pockets of rain are moving out, scattered showers are possible along a stalled cold front into the afternoon. Highs today remain mild in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Scattered storms are possible overnight and into early Tuesday. Lows will only drop back into the mid to upper 50s. Most of tomorrow will be cloudy and dry with highs around 70. Strong to severe thunderstorms will move in late Tuesday night, lasting us into Thursday morning as a large low pressure system slides through. Rain totals for the week could be as high as 3-4".

We'll dry things out on Friday, cooling off for the end of the week. Highs will only reach the mid to upper 40s on Thursday and Friday. We'll warm into the 50s and low 60s for the weekend, with cloud cover increasing into next week.

A very breezy Saturday. Wind gusts have jumped past 30mph throughout the day but they'll start to die down into the overnight.

Forecast is mostly dry tonight with clearing skies but a trailing cold front will drop temps into the 40's.

A sprinkle or two isn't out of the question during the early evening hours Saturday.

Considerable sunshine returns for Sunday and the warmth as well.

Clouds build in overnight Sunday and another disturbance will drag in isolated showers into the pre-dawn hours of Monday. Isolated T-storms aren't out of the question. 

Warmer This Weekend

Another sunny and mild day is expected in central Illinois. Highs will once again hit the upper 50s.

Cloud cover starts increasing this afternoon, continuing to roll in overnight. Lows will stay mild in the low to mid 40s. Breezy southerly winds will bump Saturday's highs into the mid to upper 60s, but a chance at scattered showers builds in from the west. A quick wave of upper level energy will pop up showers and thunderstorms into Saturday night.

Sunday will dry out with some daytime sunshine and highs in the low 60s. Another burst of energy will bring rain Sunday night into Monday, with temperatures continuing in the mid 60s into early next week. Then, a very large upper level trough of low pressure will slowly move east toward the end of next week. That will keep showers and thunderstorms around through Wednesday night. A cold front on the back side of this system will drop highs into the low to mid 50s Thursday and Friday. Skies will clear into the weekend.

Warming Up for the Cheifs' Home Opener

Thursday won't be quite as sunny as the past few days, but it's still looking nice. Skies look partly cloudy this afternoon with highs in the upper 50s. A weak cold front tonight will bring in a few clouds into early Friday. Lows will drop into the mid 30s overnight. Friday will be partly cloudy and few degrees cooler, in the mid to upper 50s. A big boost in temperatures comes on Saturday as a warm front pulls through. Highs will jump into the mid to upper 60s. Cloud cover will increase during the day, working into a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night. Rain chances continue into Sunday with another quick wave of energy moving through into Monday. The best chance at soaking rains, though, will wait into next week. A very large, slow moving low pressure system will slide east Monday through Thursday. Look for showers and thunderstorms into the middle of the week. Thursday will likely bring just showers as cooler air builds in behind a cold front. Temperatures will drop back into the upper 40s and low 50s as we clear things out into the end of next week.

High pressure slowly moving in from Canada will keep us sunny, but cool today. Highs remain below normal, only reaching the mid 40s this afternoon. Sunshine continues Wednesday, with highs near 50 degrees. A few more clouds are possible on Thursday, but southerly winds will bump highs into the mid to upper 50s. The work week will end on a sunny note with highs warming into the upper 50s. Saturday will see highs in the low 60s, but a quick chance of rain will move through Saturday night into Sunday. Highs remain mild in the upper 50s for the end of the weekend. A larger low pressure system will move in early next week bringing a good chance of rain. Showers begin as early as Monday morning, lasting us into Wednesday. Southerly winds will bring in moisture to sustain the system and bump highs into the low to mid 60s by Wednesday.

Cool Start to the Week

Breezy northwesterly winds are bringing in cooler air behind a cold front from last night. Even though we're looking sunny, highs will only reach the low to mid 40s. High pressure settling in will mean sunshine through the middle of the week, but highs will be stuck in the mid to upper 40s through Wednesday. Southerly winds will bump us into the upper 50s with just a few clouds on Thursday. The warm up continues on Friday with highs in the low 60s. An unsettled upper level weather pattern moves in for the weekend, bring a slight chance of rain Saturday and Sunday. Highs remain mild, reaching the upper 50s.A stronger low pressure system moves in early next week bringing a better chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday. Highs will cool into the mid 50s by the middle of next week.
