Severe Storm Chances Thursday & Friday
A very warm, unstable airmass is moving into Central Illinois today, bumping highs into the mid to upper 80s.
As a quasi-stationary cold front to the northwest will begin sparking showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. These storms will move southeast into the evening and overnight hours with the potential to become severe. All of Central Illinois has a slight risk of severe weather today, with large hail and strong winds being the primary threat.
The front slowly moves south into Friday, allowing for more storm development. The slight risk for severe weather continues tomorrow, extending south through all of Illinois. Again, large hail and damaging winds are the likely threat.

2:15 radar update: Outside of a few showers, most of the area is drying out. We should be dry through the evening and overnight. Next rain chance moves in tomorrow night.

More Storms-Some Severe
Rain chances have moved out of central Illinois for this evening, but we could see more showers & storms develop during the overnight hours of Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
We should catch a bit of a break from shower activity through much of the heart of the day for Wednesday, but more rain chances will be possible late Wednesday evening.
Models indicate we could see anywhere from 0.50" to 1.00" of new rainfall over the next 3 days. On top of the rain, we could have the potential for severe weather. The Storm Predictions Center has issued a standard SLIGHT RISK for parts of the WMBD 31 viewing area for Wednesday & Thursday.
The main threat for severe weather on both days will be larger hail with the possibility of damaging winds.

Elevated Chance for Severe Storms This Afternoon
The Storm Predictions Center has issued a standard SLIGHT RISK for severe storms across much of central Illinois this afternoon. The primary threat for these storms will be large hail, and slight possibility for damaging gusty winds with these storms. Rain chances should start to diminish across the area by this evening.
