Severe Weather Yesterday Gives Way To A Beautiful Weekend. 

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and a bit brisk. Light jacket wouldn't hurt. Lows around 55.

TOMORROW: Mostly clear and very beautiful. Highs in low 80s.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy w/ clouds increasing into evening. Light showers chances late evening. Lows around 60.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy w/ isolated storms in the morning. Highs of around 81.

REST OF WEEK: Mostly clear w/ highs in the low to mid 80s.

Your Weekend Forecast

The low pressure system that brought us the strong storms last night will churn over the Great Lakes for the next few days. On the back side of that, we’ll see quite a bit of cloud cover and breezy northerly winds today. Highs will only reach the mid to upper 70s. High pressure moving in on Saturday will clear out our skies, but keep highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. 

A series of upper level waves of energy begins sliding in on Sunday, increasing cloud cover for the end of the weekend. By late Sunday night, storm chances will build in and stick around into Monday. Behind that system, a high pressure system will bring sunshine and warmer mid 80s for the middle of next week. The high will break down by Thursday and Friday, allowing for more storms to develop at the end of the week. It won’t last long though, as we clear things out for next weekend.

Rainy and Cooler

After a dry start to the morning, a storm system diving in from the north today will bring rain back to the area. Look for storms to start developing in the north this afternoon, quickly moving south during the evening. With the cloud cover, highs today will only reach the upper 70s and low 80s. Lows will drop back near 60 degrees overnight. 

Skies will gradually clear on Friday, but breezy northerly winds will keep temperatures in the upper 70s. We’ll stay dry for much of the weekend, before cloud cover rolls in on Sunday night. 

A quick storm system Sunday night into Monday will bring our next chance at rain. Behind that, high pressure will clear us out on Tuesday. Temperatures will slowly warm this weekend and into next week. We’ll work our way into the mid to upper 80s by Wednesday. An unsettled upper level weather pattern will move in at the end of next week, bringing storm chances Wednesday night through Friday.

Stormy Mid-Week

Cloud cover will increase today, leading to a chance of storms by this afternoon. A few sprinkles are trying to materialize this morning, but most of us will have to wait until later to see any activity. The storms will form as a wave of upper level energy interacts with a stalled out cold front in central Illinois. 

If you’re headed to the Taste of Peoria, you may want to bring an umbrella just to be safe. The scattered storms will keep today’s highs in the mid 80s. 

A few more thunderstorms are possible overnight, with lows dropping back into the mid 60s. A stronger storm system will move in from the north on Thursday, bringing rain chances back tomorrow afternoon. A few of these storms could be strong to severe, with large hail and damaging winds as the primary threat. 

The storms will form a line and move southeast by Thursday night, allowing for clearing into Friday. Temperatures behind these storm systems will drop into the upper 70s and low 80s through the weekend. We’ll likely stay sunny for the weekend and into early next week.  Our next chance at storms will come by the middle of next week.

Rain Chances, Cooler Temperatures

A quiet, but a milder night is on the way across central Illinois Tuesday evening under mainly clear skies.

A weak disturbance will move through the area tomorrow, sparking a few scattered showers & storms.  Rain will be very isolated.

Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler than on Tuesday.

Better rain chances will roll in during the overnight hours Wednesday night.

A cold front will push through the area on Thursday, sparking another round of showers & storms.  There is a slight chance for some of the storms to become severe, with damaging winds and large hail the primary concerns.
